Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine is the integral bridge between clinical care and laboratory technology. Professor Nozomu KOSAKAI established the first Japanese department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine (formerly called “Clinical Pathology”) at Juntendo University School of Medicine in 1961. It has been greatly contributing to improvement of patient care at our institution. The clinical laboratory physicians provide interpretive reports on clinical laboratory tests, which help the treating physician to decide on a course of action. The clinical laboratory physicians also conduct a consultation for various issues related to laboratory tests from clinicians.
