| Introduction | Staff | Graduate School | Results | Japanese |  Index  (1) Years 1-2 (Intern) Go through initial postgraduate clinical training according to the Juntendo University Training Curriculum. (Compulsory)  (2) Years 3-6 Perform research according to Graduate School Curriculum and earn degree. Draw up a four-year Graduate School Curriculum. Become a member of the following societies at the time of admission. Japanese Association for Chest Surgery Japan Society for Respiratory Endoscopy Japan Lung Cancer Society Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery Japan Surgical Society Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery  (3) Years 7-8 (first half of training period) In general, gain experience according to the following training programs after graduating Graduate School. Position during these years is equivalent to �gAssistant�h. Aim at getting qualified as Specialist in Surgery. Year 7: Gain experience in the field of general & gastroenterological surgery at hospital(s) designated for surgical training by the Juntendo University. Year 8: Take part in various operations at the Juntendo Hospital of Juntendo University School of Medicine as an Assistant, and gain experience in at least 20 cases as an operating surgeon in operations of spontaneous pneumothorax, benign lung tumor, and mediastinal tumor, as well as endoscopic operations. Make at least 4 presentations at general meetings of the above-listed societies.  (4) Years 9-10 (second half of training period) Generally for 2 years as an Assistant, gain experience in at least 80 cases as an operating surgeon in lung cancer operations, malignant mediastinal tumor operations, etc. at the Juntendo Hospital and the Shizuoka Hospital of Juntendo University School of Medicine as well as other hospitals designated for thoracic-surgical training. Make at least 4 presentations at general meetings of the above-listed and other societies. Persons who have qualified as a Specialist in Surgery will temporarily be transferred to clinical affiliated hospitals of the Juntendo University, Department of General Thoracic Surgery to gain more experience as a thoracic surgeon. Get qualified as Board Certified Doctor in Bronchoscopy.  (5) Year 11 and on (Supervisor) As an Instructor, get experienced as an operating surgeon in operations requiring higher skills such as tracheoplasty (bronchoplasty) and pleuropneumonectomy, and get trained so as to be able to confidently handle emergencies. Get qualified as Supervisor (Supervisory Doctor) in various related societies. Instruct and supervise research work as an Instructor or at higher positions. Teach students of the Juntendo University School of Medicine. Supervisor of Department of Thoracic Surgery at various hospitals attached to the Juntendo University 7-10 Assistant Specialist in Thoracic Surgery; Earn degree Take part in operations mainly as first assistant. Experience extended dissection through median sternotomy and VATS-lobectomy as operating surgeon. Temporary transfer to clinical affiliated hospitals of the Department of General Thoracic Surgery 5-6 Assistant Apply for degree; Board Certified Doctor in Bronchoscopy Experience at least 80 cases as an operating surgeon in lung cancer operations, malignant mediastinal tumor operations, etc. Temporary transfer to hospitals designated for thoracic-surgical training. Study abroad. 3-4 Special Major Specialist in Surgery Experience at least 20 cases as an operating surgeon in operations of spontaneous pneumothorax, benign lung tumor, and mediastinal tumor, as well as endoscopic operations. Persons entering the Department of General Thoracic Surgery will gain further experience at designated hospitals in the field of general & gastroenterological surgery 1-2 Intern (rotation resident) Join various societies Experience general thoracic surgery operations such as thoracotomy and tracheostomy.
