What is PUBLIC HEALTH for us?
Public health is not just one of the many areas of medicine, but is a wider community-related health research area with a comprehensive perspective. Our concern ranges from personal behavior such as health seeking behavior or food habit, to health care system or social welfare system from local to international setting. In one sense, public health is a social philosophy for population to seek health in a given natural, social and cultural environment.
What can you learn in our department?
In our department, every staff has different specialties, and engages in both research and education. Post graduate students can learn about general public health issues, including epidemiology, field survey methods, statistics, medical anthropology or medical history.
The department holds regular seminar and journal club for postgraduate students. In the seminar, every researcher including teaching staff should share the newest expertise for various fields of public health.
Our department is intent on using social methods, so we do not use or educate biological methods such as laboratory techniques.
