FACULTY OF MEDICINE

The Faculty of Medicine offers students the opportunity to study abroad between 2-8 weeks during their sixth year, within the curriculum.

FACULTY OF HEALTH AND SPORTS SCIENCE

The Faculty of Health and Sports Science study abroad programs in the past have taken students to the United States and the United Kingdom. The opportunities gave the students the chance to experience English training programs, home stays, the Olympics, and training programs relating to their majors. One specific program gives students the opportunity to experience a one month training program at the University of Colorado Bolder.

FACULTY OF HEALTH CARE AND NURSING

The Faculty of Health Care and Nursing provides three study abroad opportunities:

United States Study Abroad Program: Portland State University

Pre-departure

  • English classes to improve use of every day English and medical English needed for discussions and presentations
  • Presentation preparation to enable students to speak about Japanese medical care, nursing conditions, and nursing education

United Kingdom Study Abroad Program: De Montfort University

Pre-departure

  • English classes to improve use of every day English
  • Buddy system to enhance English skills
  • Presentation preparation to enable students to speak about Japanese medical care, nursing conditions, and nursing education

Study Abroad Content

  • English language training
  • Lectures focusing on the United Kingdom's nursing education
  • Emergency care stimulation training
  • Hospital observation
  • Square Mile Programme – a volunteer program contributing to the local community

Thailand Study Abroad Program: Thammasat University

The Thammasat study abroad experience gives students the opportunity to stay in a Thammasat University student dorm and learn about the Thai culture and nursing system while having the opportunity to complete practical training in a Thailand Hospital.

Study Abroad Content

  • Observe of the university hospital and regional hospitals
  • Complete practical nursing training under the guidance of Thammasat University faculty and with Thammasat University students
  • Experience different cultures and customs alongside Thammasat University students
  • Learn about the Thai medical and nursing system through lectures and discussions

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND NURSING

The Faculty of Health Science and Nursing study abroad programs in the past have taken students to the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, and Estonia where they were able to improve their English through training programs and learn more about nursing conditions, nursing education, and nursing’s role in elderly outside of Japan.
