Juntendo University holds press conference to announce the establishment of the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport.

Juntendo University held a press conference to officially announce the establishment of the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (JCRWS) on Monday September 1st, 2014 and explained in detail the future efforts, vision, and its research contents.
First, Executive Director Etsuko Ogasawara started by explaining the significance of the establishment of the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport (JCRWS) and the overview of its research system.
Next, Natsue Koikawa and Mari Kitade, who are both Deputy Executive Directors, reported that they were planning to open the Women’s Sports Medicine Clinic at Hongo/Urayasu Hospitals.
After the explanation about the JCRWS, a discussion was held between Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is a Professor at Graduate School of Medicine Department of Hospital Administration at Juntendo University and Fusako Sugiyama, who is the mother and coach of the former professional tennis player, Ai Sugiyama and an under doctoral program student Graduate School of Medicine at Juntendo University.
The importance of adjusting the female athletes to get themselves into good physical condition, cooperation with specialists in charge of coaching (training, providing nutritional care and physical care, etc.), and thorough dissemination of information to female athletes and coaches were discussed during this discussion in a broader perspective.
Many questions were raised from the press during the Q & A.
