Although recent progress in cardiovascular medicine has introduced major scientific and technological breakthroughs, heart disease has been the second cause of death in Japan and the leading cause of death in the entire world. The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Juntendo University has actively treated patients with wide variety of cardiovascular disease. We have also conducted a wide spectrum of basic and clinical research to address this public health problem. Basic research involves cardiovascular physiology, pathology, molecular and vascular biology, and lipidology. Clinical research involves clinical epidemiology and clinical studies that occurs in clinical laboratory, and clinical trials. Graduate school of our department aims for researches which are based on clinical hypothesis and significance. Fellows can choose their own research theses with reference to variety of research topics listed below, and are expected to obtain competence in basic and clinical knowledge in the field of cardiovascular diseases.
