International Student and Researcher Event

Juntendo University International Center held a two part event for the tanabata on July 2, 2015 and July 7, 2015. Juntendo University International Center Project Professor OKITA Yoko provided Juntendo University international students and researchers with a short lecture on the second about the tanabata. Tanabata translates into star festival in Japanese. The name and date the of festival originate from a legend that two deities, represented by stars, are separated by the milky way and are only allowed to meet once a year on July 7. To celebrate the day children write and hang wishes on bamboo braches with leaves. After the lecture everyone made decorations for the tanabata out of origami and wrote down their wishes. On the actual day of the tanabata Juntendo University international students and researchers volunteered at the Juntendo University nursery school. The event gave the international students and researchers the chance to play games and listen to the wishes of the children.
