Seminar of Adapting to Life Abroad

使用言語：このゼミでは英語と日本語の両言語を使用する前提であるが、高度な英語力が求められる。チャレンジしたいと思う学生を歓迎する。
 
Language: This seminar will be bilingual. Lectures, readings and discussion will be both in English and Japanese.
 
Students will learn about culture shock, adapting to new cultures, and what we can learn from foreign living. They will have the chance to do research interviews with people who have lived abroad. The seminar will be in four stages:
 

• Background reading: learn about intercultural adaptation, deep culture, and cultural difference.
• Research methodology: learn a theoretical model to understand intercultural adaptation.
• Expatriate interviews: Do structured interviews with people who have lived in foreign countries. Learn about their experience of cultural difference and adaptation.
• Analyze data: Use the concepts we have studied to analyze the data you have gathered.

卒業論文

Students will write a thesis combining concepts learned in this class with a reflection on intercultural experiences. Students who have sufficient English ability will be expected to write a thesis in English.
