学校法人順天堂 小川秀興 理事長は、2025年10月24日〜25日に南アフリカ・ケープタウンで開催された「第4回 ILDS World Skin Summit」に特別ゲストとして招待され「2025 ILDS Medal of Achievement in Global Dermatology」の授賞式に出席しました。

受賞スピーチでは、約40年にわたり尽力してこられた日本をはじめとしたアジア、世界各地での皮膚科学の臨床と基礎研究、そして教育への取り組みについて触れられ、栄誉ある賞を受賞した喜びと、関係者の皆さまへの深い感謝の意を述べられました。

　

【スピーチ全文】

Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished colleagues,
It is a great honor to stand here and to receive this prestigious ILDS Medal.
This award is not only for me, but also for all the people, including many Japanese medical doctors and government people from Thailand and Japan, who all worked hard to continue the educational program.
For almost 40 years, I helped establish a dermatology education at the Institute of Dermatology in Thailand. I also created scholarships, and personally taught and supported young doctors across Asia.
More than one thousand dermatologists were trained through these efforts.
I am proud to see how they drove themselves to advance dermatology in their own countries, how they nurtured the younger dermatologists, and how dermatology has developed in countries that were once considered “developing” in this field.
This award reminds me that education is the true legacy we can leave: it multiplies beyond ourselves, across generations and across borders.
Dermatology is a science, but it is also a bridge between people, cultures and generations.
If my efforts on the education helped build even a small part of that bridge, I am truly satisfied.
I am deeply grateful for this honor again, and for the chance to celebrate with all of you here today.

皆さま、そしてご列席の先生方、
この栄えあるILDSメダルを受賞し、この場に立てることを大変光栄に思います。
この賞は、私個人のためだけのものではありません。
長年にわたり教育プログラムの継続に尽力してくださった日本の医師の皆さま、そしてタイや日本の行政関係者の皆さまなど、多くの方々すべての努力の結晶としての受賞であります。
私は約40年にわたり、タイの皮膚科学研究所（Institute of Dermatology）において皮膚科学教育の確立に携わってきました。
また、奨学金制度を設け、アジア各国の若い医師たちを自ら指導し、支援してまいりました。
これまでに、これらの取り組みを通じて1,000名を超える皮膚科医が育成されました。
彼らがそれぞれの国で皮膚科学の発展を牽引し、次の世代を育て、かつてこの分野で「発展途上」と言われた国々においても皮膚科学が大きく発展していく姿を見ることができたことを、私は誇りに思っています。
この賞は、教育こそが私たちが未来に残せる真の遺産であり、それは世代を超え、国境を越えて広がっていくものであるということを改めて思い出させてくれます。
皮膚科学はひとつの学問であると同時に、人と人、文化と文化、そして世代と世代をつなぐ架け橋でもあります。
もし私の教育への取り組みが、その橋の一部を築く一助となったのであれば、これ以上の喜びはありません。
改めてこの栄誉に深く感謝申し上げるとともに、本日この場を皆さまと分かち合えることを心から嬉しく思います。

＜ 2025 ILDS Medal of Achievement in Global Dermatology について ＞

本賞は、皮膚科学の分野で優れた業績を残し、国際的に顕著な貢献を果たした個人に対して、2年ごとに世界で1名のみに授与される、国際皮膚科学会連合会（ILDS）における最高の栄誉です。
小川理事長は、長年にわたる皮膚科学教育への多大な貢献および、アジア太平洋地域そして世界における国際研究協力の促進などが高く評価され、アジア初の受賞者となりました。
