薬剤耐性マラリア原虫の出現と拡散は速やかに対処すべき重要課題です。

私たちは、薬剤耐性マラリア原虫の出現を推進するゲノム変異を特定するために、耐性流行度の異なる世界中のマラリア浸淫地から得たフィールドサンプルを用いた集団遺伝学的解析を行っています。また、薬剤耐性マラリア原虫が拡散する要因を特定するために、マラリア原虫-蚊-マウスの系を用いた薬剤耐性−感受性マラリア原虫間の適応度比較解析も行っています。

得られる成果を段階的に発展させていき、薬剤耐性マラリア原虫の出現と拡散を阻止する方法の開発を目指します。
